What is GLA
GLA - Gamma Linolenic Acid. The Only Omega 6 to support an anti inflammatory response.
GLA is a regulator of the prostaglandins, the hormone-like substances that act as chemical messengers inside the cell. Their physiological effects include regulation of inflammation. There are two predominant prostaglandins: PGE-1 the anti inflammatory prostaglandin and PGE-2 the pro inflammatory prostaglandin. GLA increases production of PGE-1, thus reducing the levels of PGE-2.
Misoprostol, a common medication for horses with hind gut ulcers is a synthetic form of PGE-1.The prostaglandins are also involved in the increased secretion of protective mucus in the GI tract, which makes hemp oil’s GLA an important ingredient for horses with ulcer issues with zero side effects.
Hemp is the only edible seed with GLA.

Hemp vs Soy
Soy gained popularity because of its high protein and cheap price tag....but it just can't compete with the power of hemp. The protein from soy is rather false as the body can not digest properly what soy is made up of due to enzyme inhibitors. Soy oligosaccharides cause bloating and stomach discomfort. Soy is almost 99% GMO, which means on top of its already shaky make up for digestion, it's just been ramped up making it even harder for the body. Many horses are allergic to soy, so read your labels. Where Hemp can actually help regulate hormones, soy will disrupt the hormonal balance due to phytoestrogens that mimic estrogen. Read the articles below for some in depth knowledge of the soy in your animals food.

Hemp vs Flaxseed
We love Flaxseed and Camelina oil (false Flax or wild flax) but.....Hemp is king with the correct ratio of EFA's (essential fatty acids). Hemp beats both other oils 100% as neither Flax or Camelina have long chain omega 3's or the Gamma Linolenic Acid that provides an array of benefits. Flaxseed is also 2nd to only cotton in the amount of pesticides used, where the bugs don't seem to care for hemp.
